"Charges" is an homage to the pioneer video artist Jean-Pierre Boyer. Freely inspired by Boyer’s videos made during the 1970’s with his "Boyétiseur" and his use of video feedbacks, "Charges" is the result of an ongoing dialog between sounds and images, both emerging from analog technologies.

- Sabrina Ratté and Roger Tellier Craig were inspired by the pioneer canadian artist Jean-Pierre Boyer

The raw aspect of the video echoes Boyer’s experimental approach. Electricity becomes the main material for the piece; it is sculpted, manipulated and edited into a patchwork of videos modulated by electronically generated sounds. This association of abstract shapes creates the illusion of landscapes, machine like shapes and electrical horizons that seem to take form in an aleatory manner while creating a cohesive language. The minimalist machinery fuzz, pulsating buzzes and melting tones created by the modular synthesizer echo Boyer’s use of early electronic music to soundtrack his videos.
