Solar Sounders convert energy from the sun directly into sound, without batteries, so shadows mute them. It is a performance by placement in daylight, and it always changes.
A Solar Sounder is a synthesizer played by sunlight. More specifically, the solar panel receives energy from the sun and the circuit board converts the energy to electronic music, and sends it to a speaker. These boxes are less for nocturnal performance and more for placement in the outdoor environment during the day. Because Peter Blasser is interested in making electronic music for the daytime, Solar Sounders convert energy from the sun directly into sound, without batteries, whereas shadows mute them. They each have a simple analog synthesizer and speaker amplifier. They are arranged in a pallet of three types: a deep monk, a lilting bird, and cicadas.
