Pulsu(m) Plantae V.2 makes plants sing! The project empirically analyzes the mechanisms whereby plants communicate with one another and the ways in which their own biological processes are a manifestation of communication, seemingly inaccessible to our senses. Pulsu(m) Plantae V.2 involves the design of an auditory prosthesis based on the biofeedback principle, a technique for obtaining data on the physiological functions of an organic body, giving us access to the cycles and operations of plant systems. Through sound synthesis, the prostheses transform the biofeedback readings into an abstract voice for plants. These electric signals are then amplified and converted into plant songs. Through this process, technology becomes a tool for the expansion of human sense perception to include a wider world.

The artist wishes to thank the Kisoque Mont-Royal for lending the plants in the installation.
