"Refonte” is a series of rudimentary spears and weapons, made from electronic waste material. The scrap metal is melted and poured into moulds, echoing the ancient techniques of primitive weapon-making - using copper alloys, aluminum, and gold. Between contemporary archeology and anachronistic gesture-making, these weapons offer a redesign of our industrial societies, a post-futuristic landscape reminding us of the fragility of our social systems and the warlike organisation of humanity. These weapons suggest a radical change in orientation: transforming contemporary technology into primitive tools and placing man face to face with his primary nature. Thus, we, as social and natural beings, are propulsed back to the Bronze Age, but in a vicious, contemporary “technological war."
