Yan Jun is a musician and writer born in Lanzhou in 1973 and currently based in Beijing. His work integrates improvisation, electronics, feedback, site-specific performance and installation, field recording and writing. He is a member of FEN (with Otomo Yoshihide, Yuencheewai, and Ryu Hankil), Tea Rockers Quintet (with Laogu, Wu Na, Xiao He, and Li Daiguo) and the Impro Committee, a group of young musicians in Beijing. He has shown his work in the United States, Australia, Europe and Asia.
He also performs in the homes of his audience members as part of his Living Room project. With Micro Feedback, Yan Jun will use headphones to hypnotize an intimate audience. His music engages with two opposed, yet complementary, phenomenas: a solitary state of wakefulness and a collective, environmental relationship.
