Kit-kit : Binaural and Contact Microphones

12 April 2014, 13:00 - 18:00

Using different found materials - such as piezos and RCA cables, this workshop seeks to initiate the participants to electronics through the confection of contact microphones and binaural microphones, as well as a "plug-in-power" device that will serve as power source for the microphones. In the spirit of DIY, the workshop will permit access to creative tools with which an exploratory portion of the session will allow the co-creation of a sound library based on the sonic environment. This project is an initiative of the artist centrePerte de Signal as par of the SONDE(S) project, organised by Sofian Auby and Alexandre Castonguay.

The work of Stéphanie Castonguay inscribes itself in formal research marked by issues in communications and proposes a relative questioning of the border between intimacy and the protection of its confines, as well as the notion of sharing through new technologies inherent to the internet. Her projects, which range from installations, video and sound works to the use of electronics and programming, shape themselves around the question of transparency of processes through the desire to make tangible the tensions at work within her microsystems.
