  • Renée Lamothe

Exhibition | FEMALE FUTURES

Video installation "Temple" / By using photos of her skin that she turns into three-dimensional objects, Renée Lamothe plays with the perception of the body, reducing it to its most basic form. This metamorphosis, a touch grotesque, allows the artist to redefine her idea of beauty while highlighting in a slightly offbeat manner the irony of the body as an object.

Bio / After studying experimental filmmaking and visual design in Montreal and Barcelona, Renée Lamothe moves back to Quebec in 2015. Now pursuing a career both as an art director and visual artist, she is particularly interested in 3D illustration and animation. By creating either images or minimally animated videos, she feeds on her subconscious to imagine virtual spaces where she mixes the beautiful with the ugly, realism with surrealism,  the organic with the synthetic.
