Eastern Bloc and Never Apart present "Technofuturism," their 4th collaboration for Nuit blanche!
The project "Technofuturism" is a multiform celebration, both technological—through installations in digital art—and musical on the theme "afrofuturism and techno music". Thus the word "techno" gathers well these two artistic notions inextricably linked by their common root, their artistic vision and their relationship to the future.
8/10pm - Installations
The FEMALE FUTURES I Exhibition envision a near future, as they question our relationship with the body, sexuality and the wilderness. These artworks engage techno-futuristic interpretations of the human being, the earthly body and its becoming. They symbolize possible realities, alternative forms of embodiment, and even the obliteration of human embodied essence.
- Renée Lamothe (Mtl) - Video Installation « Temple »
- Katherina Ilenseer (Mtl) - Interactive Installation « Pleasure Receptors »
- Anna Eyer (Mtl) - Installation « PAN/PAN »
10:30pm /3am - Music
Techno music has been animated since its inception by a futuristic imaginary, technology and science fiction, emerging in Detroit from the hand of visionary African-American artists such as Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May and Jeff Mills among others. We wish to pay tribute to the heritage of this music by inviting the artists of the African diaspora who continue to innovate in this musical line in multiple ways.
