Be part of Eastern Bloc’s next chapter for its 2019-2020 Programming!

We are currently accepting submissions from emerging media artists in the form of installations, performances, workshops, interventions and discussions. We are seeking provocative and outstanding work in contemporary digital art that invites critical perspectives on technology and/or science and the possibility of social change.

From August 2019 to May 2020, Eastern Bloc’s programming will support projects that engage:

  • Innovative and experimental uses of technologies
  • Critical perspectives on technologies and platforms
  • Engagement with socio-political and environmental issues
  • Conceptual and aesthetic explorations of media art
  • Postcolonial, feminist, and queer methodologies & theories
  • DIY strategies, the development of open software/hardware and the use of recycled materials

Works accepted: installations, performances, interventions, discussions and workshops.

Examples: augmented reality, bio art, digital art, game art, installations, interactive pieces, net art, public interventions, participatory and community-based practices, sound art, radio art, video art, virtual reality, or something so avant-garde, we haven’t even heard of it yet…

We are interested in hosting workshops that encourage the exploration of art, science, and technology to create awareness around digital literacy, critical discussion, artistic expression, and community engagement. Specifically, we are interested in workshops that might cover topics such as (but not limited to)

  • Workshops rooted in artistic practice
  • Critical approaches to electronics and programming
